Grey’s Anatomy actor announces he is gay

Grey’s Anatomy actor T.R. Knight announced he is gay, after addressing speculation into his sexual orientation. T.R. - whose name stands for Theodore Raymond, plays lovelorn George O’Malley on the top rated television show, who had been in love with fellow intern and roommate Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) for most of the first two seasons, and has now just famously botched his relationship with Sara Ramirez’s character Callie Torres (who then turned around and slept with McSteamy played by Eric Dane).
It sounds as though it was People Magazine prying into his private life, since the statement was issued to People on Thursday.
“Grey’s Anatomy” star T.R. Knight says he’s gay, but hopes people don’t consider that “the most interesting part of me.” The 33-year-old actor addressed rumors of his sexuality in a statement to People magazine Thursday.
“I guess there have been a few questions about my sexuality, and I’d like to quiet any unnecessary rumors that may be out there,” Knight’s statement read. “While I prefer to keep my personal life private, I hope the fact that I’m gay isn’t the most interesting part of me.”
Good for T.R. to speak up, but honestly, it never really crossed my mind before I read the headline. I don’t really care one way or the other if someone is or isn’t, as it doesn’t bother me at all. But you know some narrow-minded people are going to complain about it, unfortunately.
